It was the lst ever for the Bulverde United Methodist Church, and what a tremendous time we had! Thank you so very much for your prayers. After my lst session, a mom came up to me with tears and thanked me. She said she and her adopted 11 yr. old, whom they have only had for 3 years, were always butting heads, and she realized during my speech that she had anger towards the child that she needed to give to God. She told me she immediately went to the children's area on our break and hugged her and told her how important she was and how much she loved her. Brought her to meet me after the 2nd session. A precious girl.
And after I got home I got this sweet email from an attendee:
Your presentation today was both a blessing and a brata for me! Thank you
reminding me to have joy, pray continually and always give thanks. You have a
true gift to reach people with humor but it is also obvious that you speak from
your heart.
Thank you for coming to BUMC and please come back again!
Praise God! He is so faithful!
And you gotta hear this!
All my childhood and adolescence in Belize, we lived in the Baptist manse. Across the street there was a big old house that was the home to about 3 separate families, all with lots of kids (one had 11, one had 8, etc.) We got close to one of the families, and played a lot with Digi, Daba, Tutus, Lulu, Tweeny, Peter and Rita. Rita was my age, and my friend.
Saturday, I am sitting down at my table getting ready to go up and speak, and here stands in front of me a lady. She just stands there and doesn't say a word. I look up, and it is RITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have not seen each other for over 30 years. I was so emotional I couldn't keep sitting up---I had to bend over. I cried and cried, and probably had little makeup on for the rest of the day. I had posted on FB that I was speaking in San Antonio and invited anyone to come, and she came! She lives in SA.
Afterwards we tried to squeeze in as much catching up as we could. We could have gone on forever. I can't tell you how blessed a time it was! I shared the story from the stage with the ladies, and had Rita stand up, and we were all crying. Women!
